Yoga as Medicine

A brilliant reference for teachers, students, doctors, and yogis on the path!   I find myself utilizing this book pretty frequently, and every time I delve in, I’m inspired to do more research on my own (sweet svadhyaya).  The book is full of references to empirical studies, as well as interesting anecdotes from master teachers.  It’s written by Dr. Timothy McCall and includes sequences specific to treatment of multiple sclerosis, depression, infertility and more.  This first edition only goes up to “O,” so I’m assuming (and hoping) the next edition will continue with diseases and health concerns all the way to “Z.”

If you’re interested in learning more about yoga as therapy, the International Association of Yoga Therapists website also provides an array of articles and links to recent studies.

The Yoga Therapy certificate training program at Loyola Marymount University in LA is a hotbed of east meets west healing …

And Gary Kraftsow’s Viniyoga institute is another rich resource for yoga therapeutics …

Check out what’s inside the book, “Yoga As Medicine,” through Amazon.
